Shadows

Shadows play in the evening
What will they become
A gruesome face stalking the night
A rabid dog waiting to bite
A monstrous creature up in the sky
Maybe an eagle ready to fly
The shadow makes grand
That which is not
Or makes something huge
The size of a dot
It instills fear
In the hearts of man
Is that a part of some
grand master plan
Or is the shadow there to enjoy
To foster the vision
Of the impressionable boy
In reality the shadow
Is nothing at all
A simple reflection
For us to enthrall

Spring

Spring has sprung
Life is renewed
All around, nothing subdued
Trim the trees
mow the lawn
In the meadow
A new born fawn

Evening comes and the night is cool
This season's change is slow
Look at spring's miraculous show
Outside playing
Once again
Young boys turning
Into men
